This award winning film was made by one of our congregants, Steve Rockstein. It includes history of the Synagogue, interviews, and a personal journey back to Judiasm.

Sand on the Floor uses the history of the oldest Synagogue under the US flag to journey deep inside the Jewish heart and the Jewish mind. Historians, rabbis and congregants take you from the Congregation’s Spanish Inquisition roots to its uncertain future.  The film gives us an intimate look at Jewish life, shedding light on its traditions and mysteries.  And in the process, pries at the cracks dividing the Jewish world today.

The epilogue documents the role this Congregation played in the filmmakers’ journey back to Judaism, 49-years after being targeted by a Jewish pedophile.
