The community comes together on a weekly basis for services on Shabbat.  But two points, for those who cannot make it physically.

First, for anyone with interest and the internet we have launched our Live Stream options, in which services can be brought to you throught our Facebook page, our YouTube Channel, or you can watch live here on our website by visiting our LIVE STREAM page.

More importantly, however, remember: Shabbat has long been a “home ritual.”  Time at home, breaking bread and sharing blessings with family and friends is, indeed, the essence of Shabbat.

The term “shomer Shabbat” refers to “keeping the Sabbath.”  This phrase usually means observance in a traditional way: not driving, not using electricity, not spending money.

For most Reform Jews, this is not our approach.  But it does not have to be (you should pardon the expression) whole hog!  It is not an all or nothing thing, either fully traditional or not observed at all.

Shabbat can be a powerful, meaningful family time together.  It can be as simple as “don’t to the ‘have to’s.”  We can be, if not Shomer Shabbat, then “Ohavei Shabbat” lovers of Shabbat.  At the very least, Shabbat should be a time to do something different than the rest of the week.   As our prayerbook says: “entrances to holiness are everywhere.”
